framing your work. why?

i typically store most of my photography on my pc – i know, bad, bad, bad…

:: slaps hand ::

(i do have them backed up on external hard drive though)

but for the ones that i do print off, i keep them in a photo album.  i don’t usually go through much effort in ‘framing’ my stuff.  so why do it?

well lets just start with 2 very obvious reason why:

  • framing protects your photos from airborne pollutants
  • framing prevents people examining your images using the braille system; no touching = no smudges

now the more formal answer to why:

Support for ease of viewing* – At its simplest, framing acts as a support system for optimum viewing of a picture. It keeps the image flat and permits it to be easily placed upright on a wall or other support at a suitable viewing height. Continue reading ‘framing your work. why?’

recycled bracelets

how cool is that?  some neato recycled camera jewelry from oyemodern.

re:vision

re:vision is the product of Craig Arnold’s unbridled passion for cameras, recycling and polishing. Handmade in Adelaide Australia, from discarded camera components and reshaped with love, re:vision brings old school cameras into an entirely new focus.

lens bracelet

not cheap, but i want one.  gimmie.

neato macro work

surfing the web again i came across another photographer that does excellent macro work.  his name is Nicholas (alias Ukaaa) on Flickr.  as a huge fan of macros, i was instantly attracted to his creative talent.  be sure to take a peek at his work, he’s got a great eye for lots of stuff besides small stuff.

the epson recycling shenanigan

with everyone trying to make a more conscious effort of going green, i was thinking about how i could recycle my stockpile of epson cartridges. seems like no real options are available to be green here with these cartridges. Petsmart, Staples, or any other vendors won’t accept them.

i decided to go directly to epson. i checked out epson’s recycling program info here. but no where did it state that they take back INK CARTRIDGES. so i go researching the web and found some interesting stuff. Continue reading ‘the epson recycling shenanigan’

iron man – worth checkin out

wanted to watch it at IMAX in AC when we were up there for my bday, but they werent playing it there.  so i finally watched it last night.  and it was awesome.

robert downey jr. does a fantastic job.  the CGI wasn’t out of control.  the story line and concept behind it all was well thought out and executed.  special effects were great.

do i look forward to seeing another?  yes.

and they need to hurry the hell up with filming.
